And medicating someone just because it is easier doesn't make it "right" or justified.
Society demands conformity, but that doesn't mean we must succumb to that demand.
And just because someone is weird or eccentric does mean he needs an antipsychotic.
Life can be hard and, you know, sometimes we feel terrible. That's part of life experience.
And if I argue against medicating a person, some think I am cruel and withholding.
(Who am I to judge what is "appropriate"?)
They want their lives to be easier, less distressing. It's hard to see raw emotion, even when it is appropriate.
Sometimes MDs ostensibly ask me to help care for a patient, but they seem more interested in making the pt quiescent.
The further I go in my training, the more I see that agenda. Intolerance easily blossoms.
