Revisiting an album that I haven't heard for a while - Arturo Stable's Notes On Canvas. Each song is based on a famous painting. Quite deep.

Some really good sequencing happening on Frank Villafane's new album Punto De Vista. Sounds like a combination of live performance & MIDI

The Maraca album has some killer Timba tracks too; don't expect to sit in your seat for this one!

The new Maraca album has a pretty cool Descarga on it with a killin' flute solo from the man himself!

This Villafranca album is from 2003; quite different from his latest, more rooted in Cuban rhythms. His improvisational voice is so strong.

Ever hear an album from a few years ago & go How Did I Miss That? I'm doing that now with Elio Villafranca's Incatations/Encantaciones.

@JanetSommer Very Cool. I'd be interested in hearing about other Latin Jazz artists that you've photographed; must be a fascinating gig.

It's easy to get carried away with Valdes' performance on the album, but Colina's no slouch - there's some incredible bowed bass solos!

@ronnieledesma it's old school Latin Jazz; he was a famous pianist in 1950s Cuba, Chucho Valdes' father. This album is a duo with a bassist.

One of the things that I'm really enjoying about this Bebo Valdes album is the way that it just rings with personality and style.

For a man in his late 80s, Bebo Valdes gives such incredibly energetic performances with such taste. This album is a must-have!

Checking out Francisco Mela's new album - Cirio; it's a pretty cool disc. Post modern jazz with a latin edge and a bit of fusion thrown in
